Google Ads Advertiser Verification for Health and Supplement Brands

Google is rolling out advertiser verification to every account. Here's what health, supplement and peptide brands need to prepare, and the mistakes that cause failures.

Quick answer: Google Ads advertiser verification confirms who you are and how your business operates. Google is rolling it out gradually and says all advertisers will eventually need to complete it, but accounts can be selected sooner, for example after suspicious ad activity or a suspension appeal. Once selected, some ads can be restricted and the account may be paused until you finish. Health, supplement and peptide brands should prepare their documents before Google asks.

What Verification Checks

Depending on what Google asks, verification can include:

  • Identity verification: confirming the legal person or organisation that pays for the ads, usually with official documents.
  • Business operations verification: questions about your business, what you sell, who you sell to and how you relate to the brands you advertise.

Google shows the request in your account and by email, with a deadline. Status updates can take up to five business days.

Why Health Brands Should Prepare Early

Supplement and peptide accounts are more likely to be looked at closely because the category is high-risk. Verification issues also tend to arrive at bad moments, during a scaling push or right after an appeal. Preparing early avoids a paused account when you can least afford it.

Your verified name and location can also appear in Google's ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center. That means the legal entity on your Google Ads account should be the one you are comfortable showing publicly, and it should match your website, invoices and payment profile.

The Mistakes That Cause Failures

  • Name mismatches. The payments profile, documents and business name on the site all need to agree. A trading name on the site and a different legal name on the account, with no link between them, causes delays.
  • Expired or unclear documents. Check expiry dates and image quality before uploading.
  • Agencies verifying as themselves. If an agency runs the account, the advertiser being verified should usually be the brand that pays for the ads. Agree this up front.
  • Ownership changes. Name changes, mergers or a new owner can trigger re-verification.
  • Inconsistent business descriptions. Describing yourself as a cosmetics brand in verification while the site sells research compounds creates a bigger problem than the one you started with.

Verification Prep Checklist

  1. Confirm which legal entity pays for the ads and use it consistently.
  2. Make sure the website shows that entity's name, address and contact details.
  3. Gather current registration documents and an ID for the authorised representative.
  4. Write a plain, honest description of what you sell and who you sell to.
  5. Decide in advance who in the business will answer Google's questions.
  6. Check the account weekly so you don't miss a deadline.

Verification is one part of a stable account. The other parts are policy-safe positioning and clean operations. Our Misrepresentation policy guide and our guide to monitoring policy status cover those.

Advertiser Verification FAQs

Do all Google Ads advertisers have to verify?

Google is rolling verification out gradually and says all advertisers will eventually need to complete it. Some accounts are selected sooner, for example after suspicious activity or a suspension appeal.

What happens to my ads during verification?

Some ads may be restricted once your account is selected, and in some cases Google may pause the account until verification is complete. Missing the deadline can lead to the account being paused.

Why do advertisers fail verification?

Common causes are names that don't match across documents and the account, expired documents and missing details. Submitting false information can lead to suspension.

Is advertiser verification the same as healthcare certification?

No. Verification confirms who you are. Healthcare certification, such as for online pharmacies or telemedicine, is a separate approval to advertise restricted healthcare products or services. See our LegitScript certification guide.
