Meta Ad Rejected for Health and Wellness? How to Fix It

A step-by-step fix for Meta ads rejected under health and wellness rules, written for supplement, peptide and clinic advertisers.

Quick answer: when Meta rejects an ad under health and wellness rules, the cause is usually one of four things: a claim Meta prohibits, missing 18+ targeting for dietary, health or weight products, copy that implies the viewer has a health condition, or a landing page that says more than the ad. Find the policy Meta cited, fix that exact issue in the ad and on the page, then either publish the edited ad or request a review if you believe the decision was wrong.

Step 1: Find Out Which Policy Was Cited

Open Account Quality or the rejected ad in Ads Manager and note the policy named. For health advertisers the usual ones are:

  • Health and Wellness: age targeting and prohibited claims.
  • Personal Attributes: copy implying the viewer's health or another personal trait.
  • Drugs and Pharmaceuticals: prescription products and services.
  • Unsafe substances: often the issue for research compounds.

Each needs a different fix, so don't change everything at once.

Step 2: Check the Health and Wellness Basics

Meta's current Health and Wellness standard, updated on 22 July 2026, requires that:

  • Ads for dietary, health, weight loss or weight gain products are targeted to people aged 18 or older.
  • Ads for cosmetic products, procedures or surgeries are targeted 18+.
  • Ads don't contain statements of inferiority about appearance, pinched-fat close-ups, claims that wearables alone deliver results, or claims to cure listed incurable diseases.
  • Ads don't use clickbait such as exaggerated claims or time-bound promises without qualifiers.

A surprising number of rejections are simply an ad set duplicated from an older campaign that targeted 13+ or 16+. Check this first. The full rundown is in our July 2026 policy update guide.

Step 3: Rewrite Personal Attribute Language

Lines like "Struggling with..." or "Do you have..." break the Personal Attributes policy even when the rest of the ad is fine. Move the focus to the product. Our Personal Attributes guide has before-and-after examples.

Step 4: Fix the Landing Page

Meta reviews where the ad goes. Remove disease claims, dosing instructions for unapproved products, and unqualified results from the landing page, and make sure every claim in the ad is supported there.

Step 5: Edit or Request a Review

  • If the ad really broke a rule, edit it. Editing sends it back through review.
  • If you think Meta got it wrong, request another review from the rejected ad or Account Quality. Keep the ad unchanged so the reviewer sees what you're disputing.
  • Don't resubmit lots of variations of a rejected ad. A pattern of rejections can lead to account restrictions. If that has already happened, read our Meta ad account restricted guide.

Prevent the Next Rejection

  1. Keep a claims list of approved phrases for your products.
  2. Brief creators and designers on what not to say before they start.
  3. Set 18+ targeting as the default in your campaign templates.
  4. Review landing pages whenever product pages change.
  5. Separate product lines with different risk levels into different ad accounts and pixels.

If tracking is also limited, that's a separate problem. See whether Meta's health and wellness category can be removed.

Rejected Ad FAQs

Why was my Meta ad rejected under health and wellness?

The most common reasons are claims Meta prohibits, such as curing listed diseases or unqualified time-bound results, missing 18+ targeting for dietary, health or weight products, and copy that implies the viewer has a health condition.

Should I request a review or edit the ad?

If the ad really breaks a rule, edit it. Request a review only when you believe the decision is wrong.

Can repeated rejections restrict my ad account?

Yes. A pattern of policy violations can lead to account-level restrictions, so fix the cause rather than resubmitting variations.
