Med Spa Google Ads: Rules for Peptide Therapy and Injectables

Med spas that add peptide therapy and injectables move into Google's healthcare rules. Here's what changes and how to keep campaigns approved.

Quick answer: med spas can run Google Ads for consultations and aesthetic services, but adding peptide therapy, weight-loss programmes or injectables brings in Google's Healthcare and Medicines rules. Prescription drug terms are restricted in ads, keywords and landing pages, compounds on Google's Unapproved Substances list can't be promoted, and speculative or experimental treatments aren't allowed. Injections also fall into Google's Health sensitive category, which removes remarketing and Customer Match.

Where Med Spas Cross Into Healthcare Rules

Facials, laser hair removal and skincare are treated much like other beauty services. The rules tighten when a med spa promotes:

  • Prescription injectables, such as neurotoxins and fillers, where brand names can count as prescription drug terms.
  • Peptide therapy, especially compounds Google lists as unapproved.
  • Weight-loss programmes involving prescription medication.
  • IV therapy and other treatments described with health or disease claims.

If you prescribe through online consultations, Google requires telemedicine providers to hold LegitScript Healthcare Merchant certification. Our peptide clinic Google Ads guide covers clinic certification in more depth.

Compliant Campaign Structure

  1. Lead with consultations and services, not drug names. "Wrinkle relaxer consultation" is safer than a product brand name.
  2. Separate campaigns by service risk: aesthetics, injectables, weight management and wellness therapies each get their own campaign and landing page.
  3. Target locally. Med spa demand is local, and tight location targeting improves lead quality.
  4. Use strong negatives for DIY, "buy online", dosing and wholesale queries.
  5. Plan without remarketing for injectables and procedures. See remarketing rules for health brands.

Landing Pages That Pass Review

  • Show licensed providers, credentials and supervising physicians.
  • Describe the consultation process and who is eligible.
  • Avoid guaranteed results, disease claims and "no side effects" language.
  • Use before-and-after images carefully, and only where policies allow. Our Meta policy guide covers the Meta side.
  • Don't list prices for prescription products as if they were retail items.

Peptide Therapy Specifically

Peptide therapy is where med spas most often get into trouble. Many popular peptides fall under Google's Unapproved Substances enforcement, and the FDA's position on compounded peptides keeps changing. The safest route is to advertise wellness consultations in general terms and explain specific treatment options during the consultation, not in the ad. See compound-specific compliance notes before naming any compound.

Med Spa FAQs

Can med spas advertise peptide therapy on Google?

Med spas can usually advertise consultations and services, but prescription treatments fall under Google's Healthcare and Medicines policy. Prescription drug terms are restricted, compounds on the Unapproved Substances list can't be promoted, and speculative or experimental treatments aren't allowed.

Can med spas use remarketing?

Google's Health sensitive category includes invasive procedures such as cosmetic surgery and injections, so remarketing and Customer Match are not available for those services.

Can I use brand names like Botox in Google Ads?

Brand names of prescription injectables can be treated as prescription drug terms, which Google restricts. Describing the service in general terms is the safer approach.
