Melanotan, TB-500, and PT-141 sit among LegitScript's most-flagged peptides. Here's how the compliance considerations differ for each.
BPC-157 gets most of the compliance attention in peptide advertising discussions, and for good reason — it's one of the highest-search-volume compounds in the category. But LegitScript's own monitoring data names four other compounds just as frequently among the most-flagged: Melanotan, TB-500, PT-141, and GLP-1 analogs. If your catalog includes any of these, the compliance considerations aren't identical to BPC-157's, and treating them as interchangeable is where a lot of avoidable disapprovals come from.

Melanotan (I and II) is almost always searched for and marketed in connection with tanning and skin pigmentation. That's precisely what makes it high-risk from a policy standpoint — "tanning" and "cosmetic enhancement" framing reads as a direct, easily verifiable outcome claim, which is exactly the kind of specific-benefit language that draws scrutiny under both the Unapproved Substances and Healthcare and Medicines policies.
The additional complication: Melanotan has documented safety concerns and has been the subject of regulatory warnings in multiple markets, which places it more squarely under the "products that have been subject to any government or regulatory action or warning" line in the policy — a restriction that applies independent of how careful the ad copy is.
Practical guidance: Melanotan is one of the harder compounds in this category to advertise compliantly on Google specifically. Brands that carry it alongside a broader peptide line typically see better account-level outcomes keeping Melanotan out of the same campaigns, ad groups, and even the same Merchant Center feed as lower-risk research compounds, so a review flag on Melanotan doesn't put unrelated SKUs at risk.
TB-500 shares a lot of surface similarity with BPC-157 — both are frequently searched together, often sold as a "recovery stack," and both carry the same core compliance challenge: avoiding therapeutic and recovery-outcome language. Where TB-500 differs slightly is in the volume and specificity of injury-recovery search intent behind it — a large share of organic and paid search demand for TB-500 explicitly includes terms like "tendon," "injury," and "recovery time," which makes it harder to build ad copy and landing pages that don't imply a therapeutic use case.

That's a real top-of-funnel trade-off — the highest-volume keywords for TB-500 are also the ones most likely to trigger policy review — and it needs to be made deliberately, not discovered after a disapproval.
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) sits in a particularly sensitive position because its primary association is sexual health and function — a sub-category that both Google and Meta review with elevated scrutiny across the entire healthcare and medicines policy, not just Unapproved Substances. Any claim, even implied, about sexual performance or function reads as a direct health claim, and Google's ad review systems are specifically tuned to catch this category of language.
For PT-141 specifically, the compliance bar for keeping campaigns alive is higher than for most other peptides in this list: no outcome-adjacent copy of any kind, strict research-use-only framing throughout the entire funnel, and landing pages that avoid even indirect implication (testimonial language, before/after framing, or use-case storytelling) that could be read as a sexual-function claim. Brands advertising PT-141 successfully on Google tend to lean almost entirely on lab-grade specification content — purity, sourcing, third-party testing — rather than any benefit-adjacent messaging at all.
Unlike BPC-157, which has a large, relatively neutral research and biohacking search audience alongside its higher-risk injury-recovery searches, Melanotan, TB-500, and PT-141 all skew more heavily toward outcome-specific search intent — tanning, recovery, and sexual function respectively. That makes the top-of-funnel keyword strategy genuinely different for each: the highest-volume, highest-intent searches are frequently the ones carrying the most policy risk, which means campaign structure has to deliberately narrow toward the lower-volume, research-framed segment of demand rather than chasing the biggest keyword pools available.
Not meaningfully — all four sit in similarly high-scrutiny territory. TB-500 is arguably the closest in difficulty to BPC-157, while Melanotan and PT-141 both carry additional risk factors (regulatory warning history for Melanotan, sexual-health sensitivity for PT-141) that make them somewhat harder in practice.
We generally recommend against it. A policy flag on a high-scrutiny product can affect review of the whole feed, so segmenting higher-risk SKUs into their own feed structure limits the blast radius of any single disapproval.
It's necessary but not sufficient on its own for PT-141 specifically, given the sexual-health sensitivity involved — the entire funnel needs to avoid outcome-adjacent language, not just carry a disclaimer.
