Local SEO and Google Business Profile for Peptide and Weight-Loss Clinics

A Google Business Profile can bring in local patients without ad policy limits, but it has its own rules. Here is how clinics set one up without getting suspended.

Paid ads for weight-loss and peptide clinics are tightly restricted, which makes local search one of the most valuable free channels you have. A well-run Google Business Profile puts your clinic on the map when someone searches near them. It also has its own rulebook, and breaking it can get the profile suspended.

This guide uses Google's guidelines for representing your business and fits alongside our clinic marketing pillar and our Google Ads guide for weight-loss clinics.

Is Your Clinic Eligible?

Google's guidelines say a clinic can have a Business Profile if it has a physical location customers can visit, or if it travels to customers. A few points matter for clinics:

  • A virtual office, meaning a rented mailing address where you do not operate, is not eligible.
  • An individual practitioner, such as a doctor, can have their own profile if they work in a public-facing role and can be contacted directly at the verified location during stated hours. Support staff should not create their own.
  • One profile per location across all accounts.

A purely online telehealth brand with no premises customers can visit generally has no eligible location, so a profile may not be available. Check the guidelines for your situation.

Naming, Address and Hours

FieldDoAvoid
NameUse your real-world name as on signage, stationery and the website. Practitioners may include a title such as “Dr.” or “MD”.Marketing taglines, keywords, service descriptions, location details, hours, phone numbers or URLs. Unnecessary information in the name could lead to suspension.
AddressUse a precise, real-world address. Suites and floors are allowed, with the physical address on line 1.P.O. boxes, remote mailboxes, or URLs and keywords in address lines.
HoursList regular customer-facing hours. Departments with their own hours get their own profile.Clinics that see patients only by appointment should not provide hours, according to the guidelines.
PhoneA local number you control that connects to the location.Call-centre or premium-rate numbers, or numbers that redirect to another business.

Categories and Content

  • Choose specific categories. Use as few as possible and make each as specific as you can. A category should complete the phrase “This business is a...”, not list your services.
  • Keep the description clean. It cannot contain links, promotions, prices or sales offers.
  • Do not list medicines. Google's guidelines state that product listings for health or medical devices and pharmaceuticals are not allowed. Use plain text about the clinic and its services instead.
  • Protect patient privacy. Do not post or solicit personal or confidential information. When replying to reviews, do not confirm that someone is a patient.

Make the Profile Rank

  1. Build one landing page per location. Match the name, address and phone exactly to the profile. See our clinic landing page guide.
  2. Keep details consistent everywhere. The same name, address and phone on your site, directories and social profiles.
  3. Ask for reviews the right way. Ask every patient the same way and never promise rewards for positive ones. Do not display outcome claims from reviews in ads.
  4. Add accurate photos. The building, signage and team, not before-and-after images.
  5. Link to the right page. Send the profile to the location page, not a general sales page.

Connect Local to the Rest of SEO

Local rankings work best when the site is strong in its own right. Support the profile with educational pages that answer patient questions in a compliant way, and add schema using the approach in our schema markup guide.
